Springetts’ arcade has traded as Bowral’s exclusive and original shopping arcade since 1972 and continues to shine with all its glory in 2008 as the meeting place for shopping in the Southern Highlands. 

In June this year, under building manager Gary Turland, some classically beautiful renovations and modifications began in the arcade to add a further 700 square metres to its existing structure. This includes 67 square metres of office area above the loading bay that faces Wingecarribee St, creating another 10 to 12 first class offices in the heart of Bowral. This will increase the commercial office space to around 60 shops and offices ... the largest number under one roof in the Highlands.

Tony Springett, owner and General Manager of Springetts Arcade, said the upgrade was part of a plan to keep up with the demand for more services and space in the Arcade. "Our aim is to give our tenants more space and give our customers more choice within the arcade."

Springetts Arcade will also be installing a large fully enclosed glass lift (capacity up to 17 people), which will be created on the northern side of the aquarium and fountain.

In addition to this, Springetts is establishing a new parenting and disabled facilities upstairs. Making it much more accessible and comfortable for the elderly, disabled and parents with young children.

Mr Springett explains that, "part of the design will be lengthy apex of dampolon that will allow more natural light to filter in from above, right down to the ground floor. This will reduce power and costs and gives this area a very pleasant feel. We will also be introducing some different colour schemes that will still give the old world charm that Springetts Arcade is renown for."

Whilst the arcade is having a face-lift, it will still be testament to the Springett family’s original vision and the welcoming, family-friendly and social orientation of the arcade will not change. It will still be the place to meet friends and family, find that special gift, or simply enjoy the air-conditioned ambience!
