Once again the Salvation Army and Springetts’ Arcade are joining forces this Christmas to collect and distribute gifts for children in need within our local community, by way of the ‘Giving Tree’, where everyone can be someone’s Santa.
An authentic community event that captures community spirit at a special time of the year, the ‘Giving Tree’ will be located in the Arcade near the aquarium and Santa. Shoppers are invited to take a tag from the tree, purchase a gift and leave the wrapped gift (with the name tag attached) under the tree. All gifts will be distributed by the Salvation Army prior to Christmas.
Last year the Salvation Army was able to distribute approximately 300 gifts to local families and children in need throughout the Southern Highlands. Distributing gifts from the ‘Giving Tree’ last Christmas really was something special, it was a magic day and the Salvation Army would love to be able to do the same for families in Christmas 2008.
This can only happen with the same level of generosity from our local community. So please, come and play Santa this Christmas and leave a gift under the giving tree for an underprivileged child, a child who might otherwise go without.
