Springett’s Arcade welcomes back artist Rudy Kistler

The Springett’s Chalk Art Mural Program on the gallery level of Springett’s Arcade is a rotating art exhibit celebrating seasonal and current events of Australia.  Springett’s Arcade Manager Mark Springett introduced the program during Christmas 2016 to bring a bit of fun and lively art to the arcade.

“We are delighted to have Rudy Kistler back to make some magic in the lead up to the festive holiday season,” said Mark. “We love having new art every 11 weeks in Springett’s Arcade and the very talented artists from Zest Events International do sensational creative art.”

Originally from Chicago USA, Rudy Kistler is now based on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales.  His art has taken him through America, Japan and now Australia. Rudy Kistler graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and left America with a one-way air ticket to Japan.

During his time spent in the land of the rising sun, Rudy walked some 4000 km of coastline exploring the less ‘urban’ side of Japan sharing his art with the people.

In 2004, Rudy landed in Australia and undertook his Master of Fine Arts in Painting. His thesis emphasised the importance of working directly from life. Once he hit the land ‘Down-Under’ he was determined to stay and became an Australian citizen. Rudy specialises in complex 3D illusions, murals and impressionist-influenced studio artworks. He brings his life experiences to his art which is always entertaining and engaging, and he loves working in the community on performance artworks or running workshops for budding young artists.
