We bid a fond farewell to Amanda Dening, owner of Bowral Comfort Footwear, who has completed a nine-year run with the shoe retailer that boasts a 52-year history and is one of the longest running establishments of Springett’s Arcade.
Graham Beasley owned Moss Vale Sports & Toys and opened a second store in Springett’s around 1973.
Both businesses were purchased by Margaret Hart and Beth McGuiness in 1987 and it evolved into the shop it is today with shoes, coats,

accessories and an array of Swiss Army knives and leatherman multi tools.
“The merging of sports and shoe stores is is why a ‘shoe shop’ sells knives and other things not normally found in shoe stores!”
Amanda purchased the business in 2016 and she says that the well-established business was very popular with visitors to the area and loyal customers would often just refer to the store as ‘that shoe shop in Bowral.’
“I often joked that I should have renamed the store That Shoe Shop in Bowral.”
