The Springett Family had established themselves in Bowral when they opened a general store in 1926.
As 2026 marks 100 years since the Springett family first opened their doors in Bowral, this page becomes a living commemoration of that legacy. Throughout this centenary year, it will evolve into a curated collection of stories, memories and moments that trace the family’s impact on the town and its people. To honour this milestone, 12 limited-edition postcards will be released across the year, each one revealing a new chapter in the Springett family story and the history they helped shape.
AN INSTITUTION IN THE SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS – RICH IN HISTORY
The Springett Family had established themselves in Bowral when they opened a general store in 1926.
Two decades later the Springett Family expanded this general store into a bakery and soft-drinks plant. These buildings were the first to distribute soft drinks and sliced bread in the Highlands. The soft drinks plant was the first plant to make the soft drink Passiona in Australia.
In 1972 the Springett Family opened Springett’s Arcade in the town. Today the Springett’s family members are still managing this historic building with 54 shops and offices in the heart of Bowral.
