This postcard captures a defining era in the Springett family story, when long-standing traditions gave way to new ventures and the foundations of modern Springett’s Arcade began to take shape. Between 1966 and 1976, the Bowral Cordial Works was sold, Tony and Harry Springett retired after more than 40 years of service, and Robert “Bob” Springett established the now-iconic Hot Canary supermarket in its striking yellow warehouse. In 1972, the original Springett’s Arcade was constructed, creating a new shopping and community hub that would become a lasting part of Bowral’s identity.
